Celebrating 25 Years of Lomography

25 years of Lomography, a milestone reached! From an accidental creation in 1992 by a small group of passionate friends, it became a huge, accidental, analogue movement around the world. Even facing the growth and expansion of the digital movement, the analogue movement by Lomography is still going strong today, through their LomoWalls, exhibitions, opened shops, Lomographic Embassies, opening up the eyes, hearts and minds of photographers.

Celebrating their 25 years of Lomography, there would be Massive LomoWalls, they are an iconic symbol of Lomography, staged across all over the world, in celebration of their strong analogue community.

  • 25 Years of Growing up with the Lomographic Movement: looking back on over two decades of tireless experiments, epic exhibitions, wacky workshops, the growth of a worldwide community — and eternal analogue love.
  • Building Walls That Unite: The LomoWall. Celebrating Lomography’s emblematic symbol, a kaleidoscopic testament to the power of photography to unite cultures from around the globe.
  • Inviting All to Help Build the Biggest LomoWall Exhibition in History: announcing the construction of a huge international exhibition, with tons of opportunities to take part all over the planet!
  • Loads More Going on All Year Round: giveaways, competitions for all 196 countries in the world, surprises that might be camera-shaped, and stacks more anniversary events

Happy SG52 Birthday Singapore!

On 9th August 2017, Singapore celebrated her 52nd birthday at Marina Bay. I was at the other end of Marina Bay, in between the Promontory at Marina Bay and Marina Bay Sands, catching the National Day Parade 2017 action and fireworks.

Wishing Singapore a Happy SG52 birthday!

I have a lot of thoughts, views and feelings inside my mind and heart, I would be writing them down in another article and update with the link when it is published and uploaded.

There are many things to be appreciative and grateful, there are also many things to reflect and improve. We are still a young nation and still have room to improve and grow, as One Nation Together!

The time is now to start, adapt, innovate, change and upgrade for the future! Majulah Singapore!

Welcome to Changi T4 – A sneak preview

One of the most famous and busiest international airports in the world, one of the best airports, if not the best. Voted the World’s Best Airport for the fifth consecutive year at the 2017 World Airport Awards, voted by international air travelers. Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to Singapore Changi Airport!

Having traveled to different countries around the world, whenever I return back home to Singapore, arriving at Changi Airport always gave me a sense of great pride and homecoming. It’s not just about how fast I can pick up my luggage after clearing immigration, or getting in and around the Changi Airport, the facilities and amenities, the efficiency and speed of Changi Airport as a whole.

One thing that strikes something inside about Changi Airport is that they are always constantly trying to improve on themselves, lifting Changi Airport to the next level and not being complacent in the midst of intense international airports and flying routes competition in the Asia region and around the world. Changi Airport seeks to improve and be better than before, this eventually pave away for Changi Airport to announce major plans a few years back to strengthen itself as a major aviation and travel hub in the world.

The decision to build Changi Airport Terminal 4 was announced in March 2012, taking over the plot of land originally occupied by the Budget Terminal, that was demolished in September 2012, paving the way for the construction of the new Changi Airport Terminal 4. Fast forward a few years to 2017 and Changi Airport Terminal 4 is getting ready to open for operations at the end of this year 2017!

Changi Airport Terminal 4 is getting ready to open for airport operations and they have organised open house for the public to visit (registration is fully booked!) from 7th to 20th August between 9am to 6pm. If you are not able to get the open house time slot, don’t worry, Changi Airport Terminal 4 is scheduled to start airport operations at the end of 2017.

For my traveler friends and readers around the world, who are curious and would like to know more about Changi Airport Terminal 4, and what does Changi Airport Terminal 4 looks like? Let me bring you into Changi Airport Terminal 4, through the photographs that I took recently as part of the Changi Ambassadors group visit.

Changi Airport Terminal 4 represents the future of travel, FAST as they described it, Fast And Seamless Travel for the self-service options for departing passengers. They are able to do their own check-in, collect their boarding pass, print their own luggage tags, tie it to their luggages, drop off the bag themselves, proceed to immigration counters for clearance (with automated immigration gates for Singaporeans, Permanent Residents, Long Term Visit Pass Holders or Visitors registered with Immigration and Checkpoints Authority), followed by centralised security screening.

For the photographers, travelers and Instagrammers, searching for the perfect Instagrammable location inside Terminal 4, there are a number of spots to take your Instagram photos! Let me share with you some of the locations inside Terminal 4!

When you are at Terminal 4, you would be greeted by greenery, the departure façade greenwall and arrival hall greenwall. Inside the transit area, boarding area and arrival hall, keep a lookout for the greenery (trees) too!

Walking around Terminal 4, keep your eyes and look for the sculptures and artworks, Petalclouds, “Hey, Ah Chek” , Travelling Family, Les Oiseaux!

Inside the transit area, you have to visit the Heritage Zone! There is a Heritage Façade inspired by our Peranakan culture and shophouses. Don’t take your eyes off the façade because you are going to catch a heritage theme theatre play titled “Peranakan Love Story”! There is also a heritage themed toilet somewhere there!

The seats inside the Transit area are very interesting, unique in design, of different shapes, sizes and colours. Explore all of them!

For the aviation geeks and plane spotters (I am one of them), the transit / boarding area has a clear view of the Changi Airport runway, time to take your cameras out and photograph your favourite airlines and planes flying off from Singapore Changi Airport!

Do also check out this article prepared by Changi Airport on “10 things not to miss at T4”.

If you are visiting Singapore soon and flying with the following airlines, Cathay Pacific, Korean Air, Vietnam Airlines, Air Asia, Cebu Pacific and Spring Airlines, you would be at Changi Airport latest Terminal 4!

As an independent traveler or traveling in small groups, Changi Airport Terminal 4 suits me nicely, I can do my own check-in, drop the luggages off, clear immigration, go inside relax, eat, do plane spotting along the boarding gate corridor before boarding my flight.

There are more things to share, see and do in Terminal 4, I leave it for you to discover when you visit Singapore from overseas or when you drop by Terminal 4 for a visit (for those in Singapore)!

I just want to say, Welcome to Changi Airport Terminal 4!

** I would like to thank Changi Airport Social for organising a visit for the Changi Ambassadors to visit Changi Airport Terminal 4 **

Next Up: McDonald’s Eggcellent McSpicy and Dinosaur McFlurry

In a space of two weeks since the official launch on 13th July 2017, this iconic and newly locally inspired burger by McDonald’s Singapore, the “Nasi Lemak” burger took Singapore by storm and it was sold out.  This was an overwhelming response and it was pretty unbelievable! I was glad that I had the opportunity to taste the “Nasi Lemak” burger prior to the official launch of the “Nasi Lemak” burger.

Initially, I was skeptical of the “Nasi Lemak” burger when I heard of the name. However, when I took a bite and tasted it, I was swayed across and I really liked it! I thought I would still have the chance to eat the “Nasi Lemak” burger again, yet I would never realise that it was sold out that fast, in two weeks!

McDonald’s Singapore thanks Singaporeans for their overwhelming support of its “Nasi Lemak” burger and the locally inspired menu offerings.

“Singaporeans’ overwhelming support for our “Nasi Lemak” Burger and other locally-inspired menu offerings have far exceeded our wildest imagination. We are both heartened and honoured to receive so many positive reviews from customers and food critics who have truly enjoyed our latest creations. And we will certainly consider suggestions to bring it back sometime in the future,” said Agatha Yap, Senior Director of Marketing, Menu and Digital Innovation, McDonald’s Singapore.

“The success of our locally-inspired menu attests to Singaporeans’ love for local flavours with a modern twist, and is also a result of our menu innovation efforts. We will continue to evolve and innovate our menu, staying close to local and international food trends, and strive to delight our customers with tantalising new tastes on top of their favourite McDonald’s core classics,” she added.

Since the iconic “Nasi Lemak” burger is now sold out, don’t worry folks! Next Up: McDonald’s Eggcellent McSpicy and Dinosaur McFlurry!

Emirates Singapore Derby 2017

A fun Sunday afternoon, accompanied by beautiful fashion, great food and ambience, time well spent with friends at the Singapore Turf Club during the 22nd Emirates Singapore Derby on 9th July 2017. It was a great time, everyone of us were dressed, elegant dress worn by the ladies and smart looking suits for us gentlemen.

Prior to the Emirates Singapore Derby 2017, I visited their roadshow at Kallang Wave Mall atrium on 24th June, a fun and interactive roadshow with fun activities for adults as well as for young children, one of them was the art and craft activity that the children can learn about racing colours! It was fun to see the children using their creativity to produce colourful racing colours. There were also information boards to share on horse racing, history, culture and the corporate social responsibility activities conducted by the Singapore Turf Club for various local Singapore communities and organisations.

The weather was great, nice sky, pretty cloud formations over the Singapore Turf Club horizon, a good day to be at the race tracks and enjoy the carnival and festivities of the Emirates Singapore Derby 2017. The hospitality and service at the Emirates Singapore Derby were great, we had a fun and enjoyable time at the marquee, with food, drinks, friendship, networking and of course, the sporting action on the race tracks.

This wasn’t just about a racing carnival, it’s more than that! The Emirates Singapore Derby was a reminiscent of my days in Australia when I was studying there, attending the major racing carnivals whenever I am able to, learning much more about the history, culture, sports and festivities of a racing carnival. In between the races on Emirates Singapore Derby, besides enjoying the delicious food spread and drinks, listening to the live band performing, we had a fun time chatting and mingling among us. Our pretty lady friends were busy taking photos with fellow guests dressed beautifully while we gentlemen were the ones taking photos for our well dressed friends and chatting away.

Prior to the start of any races, we would go outside to the open air marquee and watched the sports racing action on the tracks, cheering them on when they raced past us at the marquee. After the race was completed, some of us would stay around and take photos with the grandstand and the race track behind them. Returning back to the marquee after each race, we continued with the fun, food and drinks, chatting and networking.

cof

The highlight was Race 9 Emirates Singapore Derby, we made our way into the main grandstand building, visiting the parade ring to view the horses getting ready for the main race of Emirates Singapore Derby 2017, along with the owners, guests and trainer. An eye opener and a close up experience inside the parade ring, watching the horses going through their paces and warm up before the race jockeys entering into the parade ring,

Soon, the bugle was sounded and the horses with their jockeys were “Call to the Post”, making their way out to the race track. We waited patiently behind for all the race horses with their jockeys to leave the parade ring and into the race track before the owners, trainer and guests made their way to the front, getting ready to watch the main race, the key highlight race of the Emirates Singapore Derby 2017.

As they lined up into their starting gates, everybody was patiently and eagerly waiting for them to start the race. Once all the competitors were lined up inside the starting gate, in the blink of an eye, the race was on! This was a high octane race, full of adrenaline and excitement! When the racers made the turn for the final home stretch, they lifted their paces and burst for the finishing line, everybody wanting to be the champion for this race! As they made a final dash to the finishing line, the visitors at the Emirates Singapore Derby cheered and encouraged them on from the sidelines!

With the main race concluded, the jubilant owner and trainer were very excited and happy, waiting for their winning horse and jockey to return. While waiting for the prize presentation to formally began, they can be spotted giving media interviews. Soon after, the winning jockey joined the jubilant owner and trainer, joining them on stage for the formal prize presentation.

The main race of Emirates Singapore Derby 2017 was over and that also marked the end of the racing carnival and festivities for us, as we bade goodbye to Singapore Turf Club, for a wonderful and fun afternoon of hospitality, food, drinks and sporting action on the race tracks, at the 22nd Emirates Singapore Derby. Thank you Singapore Turf Club for the invitation to the 22nd Emirates Singapore Derby and showering us with your warm hospitality.
