A classic backpack, beautifully and elegantly designed, a timeless backpack design masterpiece accompanied by excellent workmanship. This classic backpack might be a minimalist design yet produces an aura of fashionista, stylish, uniqueness and following. Ladies and Gentlemen, introducing the Gaston Luga Classic Backpack from Stockholm, Sweden.

The Gaston Luga Classic Backpack is ideal for both leisure and professional, whether you are using it as a backpack for your school, your leisure weekend backpack, a backpack for your travels overseas or even a fashionable, colourful and vibrant backpack that you can use it while traveling to work. With four choices of colours to choose from Classic – Black & Black, Classic – Navy & Brown, Classic – Olive & Brown and Classic – Pink & Black, there is something for everyone of us who wishes to own a Classic backpack.

The materials used and workmanship for the Gaston Luga Classic Backpack are pretty impressive, I did a test on how many items/stuff that I can squeeze inside the Gaston Luga Classic backpack to the max/brim. Once I done it, I knew how far it can go and how much it can carry. Although I have to say, I won’t want to carry too many items/stuff all the time, just those daily gadgets and accessories for my leisure, study, travel or work!

I also did a photoshoot for Hpility SG, Tiffany Yong and Peps Goh, who had the Gaston Luga Classic Backpack, in different story settings, let me share with you some of the photos that I took for them, every photo tells a different story with their Gaston Luga Classic backpack.

Grandmother’s 1st Year Anniversary

Time passed by very quickly in the blink of an eye, a year has passed since you left us from this world. A strong matriarch who loved her five generations, under her leadership and direction.

Your presence can still be felt when the extended family came back for your 1st year anniversary, preparing your favourite food and offerings for the memorial service.

I will always remember you, stories, thoughts and feelings from my remembrance article that I wrote in dedication to your memory in January 2017. It’s not just me, the entire extended family too, will always remember you, in their hearts, mind and soul.

From the young and bubbly great-grandchildren, to us, the grandchildren and your children, the strength and unity is one of the best testimonials to you as the matriarch who led, controlled and took great care of this family.

Sending money, clothes, gifts and durian to my matriarch, my paternal grandmother in heaven, the entire extended family of 5 generations under her, hope that she likes the gifts when she receives it!

N.E.mation! 11 Downtown Picnic! Time to cast your votes!

The N.E.mation! 11 Downtown Picnic took place on Saturday 14th January 2017 at The Cathay, External Atrium, Level One, from 1pm to 4pm. This would be my fourth Downtown Picnic attendance and coverage, when it began during N.E.mation! 8 to 9 and then 10. The Downtown Picnic at The Cathay was fun, packed and well received by the teams, schools and their supporters.

I arrived a little bit earlier at the venue before the official start time of 1pm, went around chatting with the students from the five teams that I am ambassador for. Some were having lunch while some were still preparing with the final preparations for the start of the Downtown Picnic at 1pm. Prior to arriving at the N.E.mation! 11 Downtown Picnic, I watched all the Top 10 teams digital animation video clips when they were officially released after 12midnight on 14th January 2017. All the Top 10 digital animation video clips were really good and equally strong in content, style and presentation. The journey to who might be the champion of N.E.mation! 11 is going to be very interesting and exciting with the start of the public voting at N.E.mation! 11 Downtown Picnic.

The Downtown Picnic is also a platform and event ground for the Top 10 teams to showcase their digital animation works to their school, family, friends and supporters, as well as getting support from the public to vote for their digital animation video clip. All these experiences would definitely serve them well in the future, it might be a bit of a daunting experience for them to approach members of the public, sharing their video and asking them to vote. These experiences are priceless and invaluable, they would be able to help them build up their self confidence and public speaking, in school and later in adult life.

At the Downtown Picnic, there were many activities and performances, the Top 10 teams were also invited up on stage to share their digital animation video clip to the participants and visitors at the picnic ground. They also shared about how their video, theme and idea came about, and also their experiences during N.E.mation! 11 production phase. Going up to the stage in the public space, speaking, sharing and pitching for votes are commendable for the young students. The younger students would definitely learn from these experiences while you can spot and sense the maturity of the slightly older students who had prior N.E.mation! experiences in previous/earlier seasons.

Now, this is also the time that I am going to share on the N.E.mation! 11 Top 10 digital animation video clips, watch all the Top 10 teams videos, give them the support and encouragement, cast your votes for your favourite digital animation video clips and you might stand to win attractive prizes too! Visit N.E.mation! website or YouTube channel to view the Top 10 videos by the Top 10 teams of N.E.mation! 11!

Check out the picture below on the 4 different methods of voting!

There are exciting prizes to be won too! Check it out below!

Now that you have voted for your favourite digital animation video clips, do a good deed, spread the word, pay it forward and pass it on, to your family, relatives, friends, colleagues etc etc. Share the wonderful digital animation works produced by these young school students!

In N.E.mation! 11, I am also the ambassador for the following five teams, let me give them a quick shoutout here with the link to their digital animation video –

Snakes and Ladders

C04 – Team Doughnuts & Donuts from Cedar Girls’ Secondary School

Building Our Nation

C05 – Team Finding Sanity from CHIJ St. Nicholas Girls’ School

A Beautiful Song

C06 – Team Geekstrux from Crescent Girls’ School

Our SG Dollar

C08 – Team MADEit from Cedar Girls’ Secondary School

Just A Little Something

C09 – Team N.E. HEH HEH from Singapore Chinese Girls’ School

Please do give my five teams listed above the extra support with your votes!

Last but not least, I would like to wish good luck and all the best to all the Top 10 teams of N.E.mation! 11 in the final leg of the digital animation competition!

N.E.mation! 11 Downtown Picnic on 14th January 2017!

The N.E.mation! season 11 competition is entering into the final phase, starting with the Downtown Picnic on the 14th January 2017 at The Cathay, External Atrium, Level One, from 1pm to 4pm.

This upcoming N.E.mation! 11 Downtown Picnic would be my fourth time attending! I was there at N.E.mation! Downtown Picnic 8, 9 and 10, held at The Plaza, Ground Floor of The National Library at Bugis.

At the N.E.mation! 11 Downtown Picnic, you can visit all the Top 10 teams of N.E.mation! 11, they would be showcasing their completed digital animation clips for the first time to the public! I had been documenting their Top 10 production process for a two weeks period during the three weeks production phase from 21st November to 9th December 2016. I am looking forward to view their completed digital animation clips on 14th January 2017!

The N.E.mation! 11 Downtown Picnic also marks the start of the public voting phase, do share and spread the word with your family, relatives and friends! During the Downtown Picnic on 14th January 2017, check out all their videos, vote for your favourite video clips and share them with your family, relatives and friends!

We Tech Care 2016 @ Enabling Village 10th December

At We Tech Care 2016 held in March earlier this year at JTC LaunchPad @ One North, it was a fun and great community event, bringing people from different walks of life together to give back to the community, such as the local start ups, non-profit organisations, partner organisations and Microsoft Singapore. During the earlier We Tech Care 2016 event, it was also used to launch the President’s Challenge 2016. I visited We Tech Care 2016 in March, learning more about the works, efforts and outreach done by the various start ups and non-profit organisations in Singapore, along with what Microsoft Singapore had been doing to help the community and needy in Singapore.

With a successful and great earlier We Tech Care 2016, Microsoft Singapore decided to have another We Tech Care again in the same year, held on 10th December 2016 at the Enabling Village. This was also my first time visiting Enabling Village, it was an eye opener for me too!

The Enabling Village is an initiative by SG Enable, it is an inclusive community space of individuals and organisations that serve and are supported by people with diverse abilities. The We Tech Care 2016 event @ Enabling Village was graced by guest-of-honour Deputy Prime Minister & Coordinating Minister for Economic and Social Policies, Mr Tharman Shanmugaratnam.

We Tech Care 2016 is very good example of how modern technology in society today, such as technology companies like Microsoft can lead by example and help people from all walks of life, in their daily living, in their work and in the local communities. Through We Tech Care, Microsoft Singapore raised over $154,000 and this fund will go towards supporting the President’s Challenge beneficiary SPD, a disability organisation, to empower people with disabilities to learn and live their lives to their fullest potential with the aid of technology.

At We Tech Care 2016 @ Enabling Village, there were a number of different programs and activities for everybody visiting there were carnival, fun, games, coding workshops and Tech for Fun & Care. The organisations, charities and partners at Tech for Fun & Care segment showcased their latest apps and tech for people with different abilities. This was also the time for visitors to know more about them and how they can also play a part if they want to help out in active volunteering.

I sincerely hope that my small little article contribution here helps to spread the word and awareness that there are people in our society today that faces challenges and hardships. However, with the aid of technology, it can help them in some ways or another, to lead and live a meaningful life.

Bare Your Sole 2016

In its 8th edition, Bare Your Sole 2016 attracted over 5,000 people to come down, walk bare foot at Singapore’s annual barefoot walkathon. Personally, Bare Your Sole 2016 is my 5th year participating, lending my support to this charity fundraising event through the years (2011 to 2014, missing out 2015 due to a clash of my schedule).

The weather was good on the morning of Bare Your Sole 2016, then in the turn of an eye, within an hour, the weather changed with heavy rain hitting the area. Thus, the flag off had to be postponed back a bit of time around for an hour. Nevertheless, the spirits were good and the rain didn’t dampen the crowds at Bare Your Sole 2016, showing their support for a good cause. Due to the earlier weather changes, the bare foot walkathon was just the 2.5km walk for all supporters. For this year, I didn’t do the bare foot walkathon because I had to rush off for a wedding lunch assistant photography assignment after the flag off. Therefore, I stayed around the event grounds, taking photos of the flag off, the start of the walkathon. I was lucky to photograph some of the participants walking back from their 2.5km walkathon (I reckoned they walked pretty fast!), crossing the finishing line before I left!

At Bare Your Sole 2016, it wasn’t just a bare foot walkathon, there were many other activities for the participants to relax and have fun after the walkathon, from special performances, arts and craft activities, fun and entertainment, as well as understanding more about the works done Habitat for Humanity Singapore.

Through Bare Your Sole 2016, $250,000 for the less privileged were raised and this was also a great opportunity to drive across messages and awareness to the Singapore society that there are less fortunate people among us, that are living in poverty in Singapore and around the world too. The funds raised from Bare Your Sole 2016 will go towards Project HomeWorks related initiatives planned for year 2017.

What is Project HomeWorks all about ?

Project HomeWorks, Habitat for Humanity Singapores local home-cleaning programme, is celebrating its tenth anniversary this year, having begun as an initiative to improve the living conditions of Singapores elderly, disabled and low income families and individuals. By mobilising volunteers to take part in an intense home cleaning process that would improve the beneficiariesquality of life, Project HomeWorks has helped clean over 1,800 homes over the past decade.

Source: Habitat for Humanity Singapore

It was great to see the number of participants and the funds raised at Bare Your Sole 2016. I sincerely hope that the people in Singapore realise and know that we have fellow Singaporeans in poverty, facing an increasing and wider income gap, they have fallen through the gap, falling behind the rest of the society. Some Singaporeans are living quite well off and can be/are quite ignorant of the less fortunate people living in Singapore.

Let’s all Pass-It-On, spread the word and help the less fortunate in Singapore and around the world.

Show You Care, Go Bare at Bare Your Sole 2016

Bare Your Sole 2016 is back and it is happening on 10th September 2016! I had been participating in Bare Your Sole, Singapore’s annual barefoot walkathon from 2011 to 2014, walking barefoot and sharing about this charity barefoot walkathon. I wasn’t able to participate in 2015 Bare Your Sole due to a photography job assignment. Here’s a walk back in time with my photographs to Bare Your Sole 2011 to 2014.

For Bare Your Sole 2016, I am helping to spread and share the word again to everybody on Singapore’s annual barefoot walkathon that is taking place on 10th September 2016. Show You Care, Go Bare at Bare Your Sole 2016! Do support this cause if you are able to, sign up and come on down on the morning of 10th September 2016 for a fun leisure barefoot walk with your family, loved ones and friends! This is a great time to Pay-It-Forward and Pass-It-On!

Let me share with you more information and details on Bare Your Sole 2016 –

Bare Your Sole, Habitat for Humanity Singapore’s annual barefoot walkathon, is back once again to raise funds and awareness for the less fortunate in Singapore who struggle with poverty on a daily basis. This year’s edition is set to take place at OCBC Square on September 10th, at 7:30am. Registration is now open for this one of a kind event for the family.

Funds raised from the 2.5km and 5km charity walkathon will go towards Project HomeWorks, a local initiative that aims to improve the living conditions of the elderly, the sick and people with disabilities living in poor conditions across the island. This year marks the celebration of the programme’s 10th anniversary, which commemorates the heartfelt support and achievements of the community.

Over S$350,000 was raised from last year’s edition of Bare Your Sole, where more than 6,000 participants turned up to show their support.

“Bare Your Sole has always served as an opportunity to shed light on the plight of the less fortunate in Singapore and for fellow Singaporeans to step up and lend a helping hand,” said Mr. Yong Teck Meng, National Director of Habitat for Humanity Singapore. “This year’s Bare Your Sole is particularly special for us as we celebrate 10 years of good work through Project HomeWorks. My sincere gratitude goes out to every participant, volunteer and corporate partner for your continuous support.”

Aside from the walkathon, Bare Your Sole 2016 will feature a host of fun activities for the whole family while learning more about the work that Habitat for Humanity Singapore does, both locally and abroad.
