Fiery Sunset in Singapore – 15th April 2016

On the 15th April 2016, I was planning to catch the Violah! French Festival Singapore 2016 opening performance – Lumineoles Ballet at the Marina Bay Sands area. I decided to drop by Marina Bay and Marina Bay Sands earlier to capture some landscape shots of the area even though I had been photographing and documenting for more than 10 years and still counting!

The weather was great, beautiful blue and gorgeous clouds, it was just as hot and humid in the late afternoon leading up to the sunset. I had managed to capture some nice Marina Bay landscapes with this great weather, the sunset in Singapore on 15th April 2016 left a deep impression inside me. The sunset was magnificent, it was fiery, it was really beautiful. Such great sunset moment don’t come often, I was really blessed and happy that I managed to witness and photographed this fiery sunset in Singapore on 15th April 2016.

This is a priceless moment and I am there to witness it! Another awesome addition to my sunset collection! When would I get another priceless sunset moment again? I don’t know, I would just keep photographing and let the moment appear!

Happy New Year 2015 !!

Today marks the start of a brand new year, the year 2015!!

A New Hope, A New Start, A New Journey, A New Adventure … What does the Year 2015 holds for me in my field of photography and travel? What does the Year 2015 holds for you in your photography adventures?

First and foremost, let me reflect back on my photography adventures in the Year 2014. Through my 500px portfolio and Flickr photographs collections, I took a lot more photographs than my previous year, embarked on personal photography projects, camera reviews, travels and participated in (probably my biggest) photography and travel portfolio – Hokkaido Photographers Invitation Program. Overall, the Year 2014 was a very eventful and fulfilling year for my photography journeys.

What are my plans, goals and objectives for my photography in the Year 2015? On this first day of the Year 2015, I haven’t take personal and quiet time off to plan. Hopefully, I can take the time to plan and share with you my supporters and followers on my photography journey plans for the Year 2015.

I would like to take this time to say a Big Thank You to my family, relatives, close friends, supporters and followers for your continuous and heartwarming support for my photography journeys, adventures, stories and sharing! I wish you all the best for the Year 2015 and may the Year 2015 be like the bright and colourful fireworks from the  New Year Eve 2015 Countdown Fireworks held at the Marina Bay in Singapore!

Gardens By The Bay Update – Children’s Garden & Sun Pavilion

Gardens By The Bay has been an iconic landmark and destination since her days when she was first officially opened to the public. Having been to Gardens By The Bay a number of times, photographing and covering her growth and expansion in stages from her pre-opening days (sneak peak) to the official opening and visiting Gardens By The Bay along the way, she has added and opened more interesting themes to the overall Gardens By The Bay.

In my most recent visit to Gardens By The Bay, hosted by the friendly staff, a group of social media enthusiasts were given a tour of the latest floral display inside the Flower Dome – Battle of the Roses. Mihkkaail Ng also brought us around for a special guided tour of the various gardens inside the Flower Dome, Succulent Garden, The BaoBabs, Australian Garden and Californian Garden (check out more information of the various gardens here!) Over the period when Gardens By The Bay first officially opened her doors to the public, the trees, floral and fauna inside Flower Dome slowly increases, transforming into a lush and beautiful gardens from around the different continents of the world.

Sun Pavilion

We then proceed to the newly opened Sun Pavilion, not too far away from the Flower Dome. Sun Pavilion is the prickly garden, home to one of Southeast Asia’s largest cacti and succulent gardens. Sun Pavilion is home to over 1,000 desert plants comprising some 100 different species and varieties and with her opening on 28th February 2014, visitors to Gardens By The Bay has something special and unique to visit and learn more about the different floral and fauna around the world! We were given a guided tour by Anton Steven, an expert of the desert plants under his charge at the Sun Pavilion!

When you are visiting Sun Pavilion, you will be able to spot the amazing Mexican columnar cacti, which bring to mind the desert landscapes reminiscent of those in olden-day cowboy films, and the large succulent Euphorbias, which while less spiny, are interesting as they produce latex to protect themselves against hungry predators. The Sun Pavilion also houses smaller succulents with eye-catching details such as the Brazilian species of Turk’s Cap, and the Brain Cactus.

The various and unique desert plants really make a walkthrough the Sun Pavilion very interesting and visitors can get to learn more about them and how countries with deserts look like with the desert plants. More information on the Sun Pavilion – at Gardens by the Bay is available here at –  http://www.gardensbythebay.com.sg/sunpavilion.

Far East Organization Children’s Garden

There is a star attraction now at Gardens By The Bay, the Far East Organization’s Children’s Garden, making Gardens By The Bay truly a park for the young and the old! The Children’s Garden was made possible with a SGD10-million contribution from Far East Organization. The Far East Organization Children’s Garden encourages playfulness by giving children the liberty to explore, imagine and create – in a way that no smartphone, tablet, or game console can offer – all within a garden setting that will spark the child’s imagination and appreciation for nature and the environment. The Far East Organization Children’s Garden is now open to the public and admission is free. The play area operates from 9am to 9pm, and closes for maintenance every Monday (or the next working day if a public holiday falls on a Monday of that week.

Hanging around the Children’s Garden, the Water Play, Adventure Trails, Tree Houses and Forest Adventure, we can see that it is very popular with the children, running around and having a fun and leisure time either with the water or the playgrounds in the Forest Adventure. The adults accompanying their children, I am pretty sure they are also enjoying a bit of themselves too, remembering the days when they were young and carefree playing in the playgrounds.

For more information on the Far East Organization Children’s Garden, as well as other features and programmes of Gardens by the Bay, is available at www.gardensbythebay.com.sg.

Gardens By The Bay has now transformed into a very nice and beautiful park, there is something for everybody from the young to the old where everybody can have fun, relax, enjoy the outdoors and sunshine, flora, fauna, the children’s playground, watching sunrise or sunset at the Marina Bay area, and there is also bird/wildlife spotting opportunities as well!

Have fun at Gardens By The Bay and see you there!

River Hongbao 2013

River Hongbao 2013 is back at Marina Bay Singapore, held at The Float @ Marina Bay from 8th February 2013 to 16th February 2013. This would be my 6th time covering and photographing River Hongbao, enjoying my time taking photographs and the fireworks on Chinese New Year Eve to welcome in the new Chinese New Year! Here’s my River Hongbao photographs collection from 2008 to 2013 on Flickr! Let me bring you back in time and recap together my River Hongbao adventures!

River Hongbao 2012

I went down to River Hongbao 2013 on their opening night, 8th February 2013. The River Hongbao 2013 was officially declared opened by the Guest Of Honour, President Dr Tony Tan and there was a 3 minutes fireworks to help warmly welcome the official opening! The displays and lanterns always lights me up with their colours and designs. There are troupe performances from Guangdong province that would be performing during the River Hongbao 2013 period, do check out the performance schedule listing and drop by to watch their performances! Besides performances, there are Guangdong handicrafts and Guangdong delicacies at River Hongbao 2013! Besides River Hongbao displays and performances, there are rides at the Amusement Park for the little kids to enjoy and have fun as well! If you are hungry, there is Food Street for you to grab some local food and Guangdong delicacies!

The highlights for me at River Hongbao would definitely be the lanterns and colourful displays, along with the fireworks on the opening night and Chinese New Year Eve to welcome the new Chinese New Year! I would photograph every one of the twelve animal signs of the Chinese Zodiac, they always make it an interesting collection of photographs for me to collect and keep over the years that I attended River Hongbao! I felt that the other lanterns and displays at River Hongbao 2013 is interesting and unique, it would be a great event for families to bring down their children to attend and share with them more on our Chinese New Year celebrations and culture! With Chinese New Year Day 3 being a public holiday off-in-lieu since Chinese New Year Day 1 falls on a Sunday, it would be a event that you can bring your family and loved ones there or with your friends to enjoy the Chinese New Year festivities.

Here’s some useful links on River Hongbao 2013 whereby you can find more information and updates!

From the seats at the Floating Platform, overlooking The Float @ Marina Bay whereby River Hongbao 2013 action was happening. There was a sea of people and action around the lanterns, displays and watching performances. At 12 midnight, everybody there at River Hongbao 2013 ushered in the Year of the Snake together, watching the fireworks display! I was there to capture the fireworks too with fellow Marina Bay AmBAYssadors!

After 2 days of covering River Hongbao 2013, I began to look back at my 5 years of River Hongbao and this is my 6th year photographing, writing and sharing this wonderful event. This has always been an event that I like to photograph, sharing the colours and festivities. There are bright and colourful, that can be seen through my River Hongbao 2013 photographs collection.
