Have You Visited i Light Marina Bay 2014?

The colourful, interesting and innovative sustainable light art festival, i Light Marina Bay 2014 is now in their final week, with the last day of the festival on 30th March 2014! This event, i Light Marina Bay had been a fun and interesting festival, that I saw from the visitors coming down to i Light Marina Bay, interacting and playing with the lighting artworks! There were a total of 28 art installations around the Marina Bay area and I managed to visit and photograph all 28 art installations over the past 2 weekends! My i Light Marina Bay 2014 photographs are uploaded to my Flickr and you can find out more about the 28 art installations!

There are a few art installations that I really like a lot and I would recommend these few art installations at i Light Marina Bay for you all to visit! One of them is art installation B9 titled “Cloud”, with the Marina Bay and Raffles Place CBD skyline in her background, this makes an excellent photograph together with the art installation Cloud. During the evening, when the sun sets and the blue hour emerges, the art installation Cloud with the beautiful landscape background is one that dazzles visitors and photographers to wait for that moment!

Visit i Light Marina Bay 2014 and discover your favourite art installations! The lighting projection display on the Art Science Museum, art installation B14 titled “Celebration of Life” is another of my favourite and you can see many visitors watching from the Helix Bridge, at the Float @ Marina Bay and below the Art Science Museum itself! I photographed the “Celebration of Life” artwork installation from three different locations over two weekends and one of my favourite location is the Helix Bridge whereby I can have a view of artwork projection on the Art Science Museum with the Raffles Place CBD and Marina Bay in the background!

River Hongbao 2013

River Hongbao 2013 is back at Marina Bay Singapore, held at The Float @ Marina Bay from 8th February 2013 to 16th February 2013. This would be my 6th time covering and photographing River Hongbao, enjoying my time taking photographs and the fireworks on Chinese New Year Eve to welcome in the new Chinese New Year! Here’s my River Hongbao photographs collection from 2008 to 2013 on Flickr! Let me bring you back in time and recap together my River Hongbao adventures!

I went down to River Hongbao 2013 on their opening night, 8th February 2013. The River Hongbao 2013 was officially declared opened by the Guest Of Honour, President Dr Tony Tan and there was a 3 minutes fireworks to help warmly welcome the official opening! The displays and lanterns always lights me up with their colours and designs. There are troupe performances from Guangdong province that would be performing during the River Hongbao 2013 period, do check out the performance schedule listing and drop by to watch their performances! Besides performances, there are Guangdong handicrafts and Guangdong delicacies at River Hongbao 2013! Besides River Hongbao displays and performances, there are rides at the Amusement Park for the little kids to enjoy and have fun as well! If you are hungry, there is Food Street for you to grab some local food and Guangdong delicacies!

The highlights for me at River Hongbao would definitely be the lanterns and colourful displays, along with the fireworks on the opening night and Chinese New Year Eve to welcome the new Chinese New Year! I would photograph every one of the twelve animal signs of the Chinese Zodiac, they always make it an interesting collection of photographs for me to collect and keep over the years that I attended River Hongbao! I felt that the other lanterns and displays at River Hongbao 2013 is interesting and unique, it would be a great event for families to bring down their children to attend and share with them more on our Chinese New Year celebrations and culture! With Chinese New Year Day 3 being a public holiday off-in-lieu since Chinese New Year Day 1 falls on a Sunday, it would be a event that you can bring your family and loved ones there or with your friends to enjoy the Chinese New Year festivities.

On Day 2 of River  Hongbao 2013, Chinese New Year Eve, the River Hongbao 2013 was very lively and busy with many people. From the seats at the Floating Platform, overlooking The Float @ Marina Bay whereby River Hongbao 2013 action was happening. There was a sea of people and action around the lanterns, displays and watching performances. At 12 midnight, everybody there at River Hongbao 2013 ushered in the Year of the Snake together, watching the fireworks display! I was there to capture the fireworks too with fellow Marina Bay AmBAYssadors!

After 2 days of covering River Hongbao 2013, I began to look back at my 5 years of River Hongbao and this is my 6th year photographing, writing and sharing this wonderful event. Spring Celebrations 2013 at Gardens By The Bay

Spring Celebrations 2013 is happening at Gardens By The Bay! Welcoming the Year of the Snake with a beautiful of flora display in the flower dome featuring some 8,000 colourful blooms. The Gardens By The Bay is definitely a destination to visit during the Chinese New Year period holidays with your family and loved ones, enjoying the beautiful flowers blooming and sculptures around the Gardens By The Bay. I was invited by National Parks Singapore (NParks) and Marina Bay Division Singapore to visit the Spring Celebrations 2013, sharing information and photographs of the Spring Celebrations 2013 at Gardens By The Bay, with fellow Marina Bay AmBAYssadors.

We took the Garden Cruiser to tour the Gardens By The Bay and had a greater understanding of the different unique sculptures located in the various parts of the Gardens. Therefore, when you are visiting Gardens By The Bay, do keep a lookout for them! When you are at Gardens By The Bay, you have to visit the the Meadow, you can see something very unique and very impressive, it’s a “very big infant” sculpture, by internationally acclaimed artist Marc Quinn. The impressive sculpture is known as Planet, explores the intimate relationship between nature and humanity, and serves as a natural extension of the Gardens’ efforts to connect people with the stories of plants and the planet. The sculpture is a depiction of the artist’s infant son and he can be seen appearing to be “floating” above the ground. You have to visit this impressive sculpture yourself to view it! Do visit Gardens By The Bay during this Chinese New Year holidays period!

Next stop was Flower Dome, one of my favourite places in Gardens By The Bay. Inside the Flowers Dome, Spring Celebrations is in the air! With about 8,000 colourful blooms, spectacular and in bright colours, you can find a selection of penjing (or bonsai) up to 200 years old, 3-metre-long snake topiaries, grand kumquat plants measuring 3 metres in diameter, and life-sized oriental pavilions inside the Flower Dome. Here’s more information about Spring Celebrations 2013 at Gardens By The Bay!

Today, Marina Bay Singapore has metamorphosised into a modern cosmopolitan district filled with many different fun, activities and events for all age groups. Heritage is very much part of the precinct’s foundation, captured in key historical landmarks such as Merlion Park and Collyer Quay. An interesting Street Museum section chronicles Marina Bay’s story over its first few decades since the 1960s, telling a story of strategic, far-sighted and meticulous planning and committed engagement to reach its present state through archive photos superimposed on its modern-day context.

Join us during the month-long event where every weekend is full of exciting activities such as heritage walks and photography workshops led by our very own AmBAYssadors. We want you to be part of Loving Marina Bay too – submit a photo taken at Marina Bay anywhere, anytime to win prizes; or simply pen a Love Note to your family/friends, drop it into the red pillar post boxes at The Fullerton Hotel and we will send it anywhere in the world for you!
