Canon announced PowerShot SX730 HS

Canon recently announced a new digital compact camera to their lineup, the Canon PowerShot SX730 HS. This is a high zoom, compact and lightweight compact camera, packed with some pretty good technical specifications and capabilities.

Let me share with you more details and information on the Canon PowerShot SX730 HS –

Canon announced the launch of the new PowerShot SX730 HS high-zoom compact camera. This pocket-sized addition provides high quality imaging and encompasses a high-sensitivity 20.3 megapixels CMOS sensor, up to 40x optical zoom, 180-degrees tilting LCD screen and advanced features such as Smooth Skin mode for enhancing self-portraits.

“The Powershot SX series is proven for its high zoom capabilities, enabling far-reaching sight for photographers such that fine details can be captured even from afar,” said Edwin Teoh, Head of Marketing, Singapore Operations, Canon Singapore. “Going a step further to broaden functionality, features such as the smooth skin mode and tilt-type screen on the PowerShot SX730 HS will help users to take the most flattering and high-resolution selfies.”

Bridging Distances with Powerful 40x zoom

For users who are accustomed to the portability of small cameras and desire high zoom capabilities, the PowerShot SX730 HS offers the best of both worlds. Weighing a mere 300 grams, the PowerShot SX730 HS has far-reaching goals. With a high zoom capability of up to 40x which can be doubled to 80x zoom with Canon Zoomplus technology, the PowerShot SX730 HS is capable of capturing stunning details of distant subjects such as wildlife and concert performances.

The PowerShot SX730 HS is also equipped with the Zoom Framing Assist feature which ensures that users enjoy the fun of photography without worrying about losing track of their subjects. Should the subject move out of frame while user is shooting, the Zoom Framing Assist feature can be activated with a push of the button, to zoom out and quickly locate the subject, keeping it in frame. In addition, the Auto Zoom feature also enhances framing precision to help users achieve well-framed shots without complication. In essence, the function will enable the camera to adjust the zoom factor automatically, to maintain the optimum framing based on users’ desired setting.

Perfecting Portraiture Techniques with the new Smooth Skin mode

Taking creative shots and finding the best angles for self-portraits can now be a breeze with the PowerShot SX730 HS’s tilting LCD screen, which flips up to 180 degrees upward and downward. With three levels of effects to choose from via the Smooth Skin mode, users may bypass the reliance on filters to look their best. Coupled with the option to blur the background, depth of field can be achieved for beautiful portraits. The Smooth Skin mode is available in both the Self-Portrait mode and Regular mode. Along with a built-in Stabilization mode that suppresses camera shakes, sharp and high quality shots can be ensured.

Easy connectivity and instant sharing

The PowerShot SX730 HS is also equipped with a host of connectivity features. With Wi-Fi and NFC (Near Field Communications) capabilities, users can easily establish a connection between the camera and their smartphones for photos and videos transfer, wireless printing, uploading onto social media and to use their smartphones for remote shooting via the Canon Camera Connect app. Additionally, with the built-in Bluetooth low energy technology, users can to switch to Wi-fi connection easily to transfer or view images on the go.

N.E.mation! 11 Awards Ceremony – 19th February 2017

On 19th February 2017, the top 10 teams of N.E.mation! 11 all came together again, for the announcement of the winner for N.E.mation! 11. They had worked really hard during the three weeks production phase from November to December. Watching their digital animation video clips that they produced, let’s congratulate all these young and talented students on job well done!

I was invited to the N.E.mation! 11 Awards Ceremony as their social media ambassador during this campaign. When I was inside the Ngee Ann Kongsi auditorium at National Gallery Singapore, I was probably just as anxious and excited, like the top 10 teams there. Watching their digital animation video clips, they all produced excellent quality digital animation video clips, giving judges and voters a good headache to have, in terms of casting for their favourite digital animation video clips.

The guest of honour was Dr Janil Puthucheary, Minister of State for Ministry of Communications and Information & Ministry of Education. He gave a very heart warming and encouraging speech to all the top 10 teams, with some great sharing of experiences on the importance of total defence, training and education. I am sure the students would take heed from Dr Janil Puthucheary wisdom and sharing in their future endeavours.

After the speech, the top 10 teams were individually introduced to the audience with their digital animation video being played on the main screen prior to their entry on the stage. Soon, the awards ceremony began and the winner of N.E.mation! 11 was Team MADEit!

I also want to say thank you and congrats to all the top 10 teams of N.E.mation! 11, while there can only be one overall winner among the top 10 teams, in my heart, everyone of you is already a winner, not just in terms of producing digital animation video clips, the life lessons such as marketing, public relations, public speaking, determination, hard work, time management, project management, teamwork, friendship, bonding, all these life skills and experiences will come in very handy and useful, in your studies and career down the road.

To the five teams under my care, Team Doughnuts & Donuts, Team Finding Sanity, Team Geekstrux, Team MADEit and Team N.E. HEH HEH. I want to congratulate everyone of you on a job well done! It’s been a pleasure and honour meeting everyone of you during this N.E.mation! 11 journey.

Congrats to Team MADEit, yes, you have MADE IT, the overall winner of N.E.mation! 11 !! Good luck and all the best in your future endeavours!! Have a fun trip to U.S.A!!

With this note, I will also conclude and wrap up my N.Emation! 11 journey here!

N.E.mation! 11 Downtown Picnic! Time to cast your votes!

The N.E.mation! 11 Downtown Picnic took place on Saturday 14th January 2017 at The Cathay, External Atrium, Level One, from 1pm to 4pm. This would be my fourth Downtown Picnic attendance and coverage, when it began during N.E.mation! 8 to 9 and then 10. The Downtown Picnic at The Cathay was fun, packed and well received by the teams, schools and their supporters.

I arrived a little bit earlier at the venue before the official start time of 1pm, went around chatting with the students from the five teams that I am ambassador for. Some were having lunch while some were still preparing with the final preparations for the start of the Downtown Picnic at 1pm. Prior to arriving at the N.E.mation! 11 Downtown Picnic, I watched all the Top 10 teams digital animation video clips when they were officially released after 12midnight on 14th January 2017. All the Top 10 digital animation video clips were really good and equally strong in content, style and presentation. The journey to who might be the champion of N.E.mation! 11 is going to be very interesting and exciting with the start of the public voting at N.E.mation! 11 Downtown Picnic.

The Downtown Picnic is also a platform and event ground for the Top 10 teams to showcase their digital animation works to their school, family, friends and supporters, as well as getting support from the public to vote for their digital animation video clip. All these experiences would definitely serve them well in the future, it might be a bit of a daunting experience for them to approach members of the public, sharing their video and asking them to vote. These experiences are priceless and invaluable, they would be able to help them build up their self confidence and public speaking, in school and later in adult life.

At the Downtown Picnic, there were many activities and performances, the Top 10 teams were also invited up on stage to share their digital animation video clip to the participants and visitors at the picnic ground. They also shared about how their video, theme and idea came about, and also their experiences during N.E.mation! 11 production phase. Going up to the stage in the public space, speaking, sharing and pitching for votes are commendable for the young students. The younger students would definitely learn from these experiences while you can spot and sense the maturity of the slightly older students who had prior N.E.mation! experiences in previous/earlier seasons.

Now, this is also the time that I am going to share on the N.E.mation! 11 Top 10 digital animation video clips, watch all the Top 10 teams videos, give them the support and encouragement, cast your votes for your favourite digital animation video clips and you might stand to win attractive prizes too! Visit N.E.mation! website or YouTube channel to view the Top 10 videos by the Top 10 teams of N.E.mation! 11!

Check out the picture below on the 4 different methods of voting!

N.E.mation! is an awesome, enriching and great learning experience for the students. The amount of time and effort in preparing, planning, rehearsing and presenting their ideas, digital animation flow and creativity that the students presented were amazing and priceless. They were not just done with presenting, the students had to face a series of challenging questions, views and comments from the panel of judges.

They were students around the ages of 13 to 15 and they were amazing, standing in front of the judges, presenting their stories, thoughts, ideas and workflow. Some of them were heartwarming and touching to the hearts, some were creative and spontaneous.
