Must Try Food : Hock Lam Street Popular Beef Kway Teow (formerly Purvis Street)

Formerly tucked away in a small shophouse along Purvis Street, in hot and humid conditions, patronised and followed by beef noodles lovers, I had enjoyed their beef noodles at their Purvis Street outlet and did not realise that they moved to the other street beside them and gone through a revolutionary change in their layout, design, decoration and history.

Before I go further, let me introduce their famous trademark dish, the Hock Lam Street Popular Beef Kway Teow … look at the photo below.

The gravy is not too thick, nice and smooth (if you choose the dry noodles option), holding it up well even when the noodles/kway teow is mixed with the beef portions. There are different varieties of beef portions that you can order with your beef kway teow and I chose the mixed Beef dry Kway Teow set, a nice mixture of beef slices, beef balls, beef intestines and liver. The beef portions are tender and tasty, not overcooked and definitely fresh. Take a closer look at the crushed peanuts and pickled vegetables on my beef noodle, that’s 2 key ingredients that makes it special too !

The chili and fish sauce, along with their soup, is a must have combination of spices and seasoning to complement your beef noodles/kway teow.

Alright folks, where can you find them ? Here’s their information –

Must Try Food : Alex’s Eating House

Roasted Duck, Roasted Pork and Char Siew Pork, 3 of Singapore’s favourite meat dishes and definitely one of my meat selection dishes here in Singapore. One of my favourite food outlet is Alex’s Eating House, famous for its Roasted Duck, Roasted Pork and Char Siew Pork.

Located in the heart of Beach Road, opposite Shaw Tower, I first tasted this wonderful place 5 years ago in 2005 and although the Roast Pork looked “fatty”, once you tasted it in your mouth, it’s really delicious and it’s not that oily after all ! The Roast Duck is very nice and tasty, the duck skin is roasted crispy and crunchy, the roast duck meat is cooked just nice and not overcooked. As for their Char Siew Pork, it’s sweet, tender and cooked just nice too!

Take a look at their wonder Roasted Duck and Roasted Pork meat portions ! They also have cabbage salad beside the meat portions too and it’s part of their trademark ! Their portion is pretty big and it’s really value for money !
