My Half Year 2009 Photoblogging Reflection

The 1st half of 2009 is going to pass and we would be entering the 2nd half of 2009 soon. Reflecting back on my photoblogging and photography adventure for the 1st half of 2009, collecting my photo memories came in

(1) Traffic rank – improvement and on target, currently below 100k and striving to make it better and getting larger traffic in.

(2) Recognition – selected by XPR to be part of the LG Life is Viewty-ful Blogger Campaign and being part of the 10 photo bloggers selected to test and help PR and market the LG GC 900 Camera Phone. A great achievement and a testimonial to the efforts and amount of hard work put inside my blogging, internet marketing and social media networking and constantly improving my photography.

(3) Photography Improvements – Planning and seeking to learn studio photography, an area that I wasn’t able to learn from  Jeff Loo, my senior from my Dragon Scout Group and a mentor when I learned the tools and trade of freelance photography.

(4) Sports Photography with Coaching – My recent attachment with volleyball coach Jack in his recent tournament gave me a new direction, using sports photography and sports photojournalism to capture his players in competition, their movement and motion, thus, giving the coach on the finer points for his players to improve on.

(5) Photography trips – Still planning my major photography trip, Shangri-La photography adventure and hopefully Bhutan photography trip sometime soon.

Looking forward to my 2nd half of 2009 photography adventure !

Dogs Day Out in the Park @ West Coast Park

It’s a great day for the friendly doggies and their mummies and daddies, coming together for a fun filled event, organised by AVA Singapore, National Parks Board of Singapore, pet and welfare organisations at West Coast Park, a park nearby my home whereby I can walk and reach in 10 minutes.

I went there with Jack and we walked around the booths and compound, enjoying the various cute and lovely doggies running around playing with their toys and their fellow doggies friends. We were there for a short time, taking photos of the doggies and patting the cute and lovely doggies of different breeds.

Although it was a short time there, I had a great time with the doggies and wondering where was my Princess Spitz, looking at the other Japanese Spitz there, my princess would probably be outstanding due to her furry coat and overweight size and very friendly nature.

Do enjoy the other photos here too at my Flickr !

UQAAS Networking Event @ Wine Bos 12th June 2009

The UQAAS was back in action again, organising another wine networking event on the 12th June 2009 at Wine Bos , located on 47a North Canal Road.

It was a night of free flow wine with nice tapas from 7pm to 9pm and we had a good turnout of fun, drinking, chatting, making new friends and sharing our future mentorship program with fellow alumni there. The weather in Singapore was pretty hot at the moment, the heat in Wine Bos were generated by our enthusiasm, warmth and laughter.

From this wine networking event, with increasing participation and alumni members signing up into our UQAAS database, UQAAS would be planning for more events, networking and social, for alumni members to interact and get together. If you are a graduate from The University of Queensland, do keep in touch with us via Facebook ! Check out more photos here at my Flickr !

CommunicAsia 2009 with LG Viewty Smart GC 900

First and foremost, it was an honour to be selected to be ONE of the TEN photobloggers to be participating in the LG Life is Viewty-ful photoblogger campaign, testing out the LG Viewty Smart GC 900 camera phone before its official launch at CommunicAsia 2009 at the Singapore Expo.

This selection was something that blew me off, something that I am very happy and proud of, my photoblogging, my social networking, my photography, my journalistic writing, networking and growth of this blog since its birth, an achievement and recognition for my photography, writing, blogging and social networking !

We, the Life is Viewty-ful bloggers, TEN of us, were invited to CommunicAsia 2009 on 18th June 2009 and given a tour of LG, chatting and discussing with fellow bloggers and LG staff from South Korea, from the marketing division and giving our views on the GC 900 camera phone, along with the XPR staff. Besides having a fun discussion and feedback, we were given a tour of the LG exhibition, watching Korean hip-hop dance and performance, exploring the other latest LG smart phones and it was very fun since LG built a giant Crystal Phone to demonstrate their latest phone and technology.

There were many gorgeous ladies helping to demonstrate and explain the various LG phones and technology. LG has taken a huge leap forward in the mobile phone industry, with its latest range of smartphones and S Class technology. My review of the LG Viewty Smart GC 900 and my experience with the camera phone would be in another post coming up soon. I feel that LG has done a great job here in this camera phone segment.

After touring, we head back for another round of feedback and summarising of our GC 900 experiences and if our views, comments and feedback would be able to be implemented into the upcoming batch, or future camera phone design models and it will only make it stronger, better and faster.

Before leaving, we were given some gifts by LG and we were very happy to receive it ! Before leaving, we went around to view the photos taken by the TEN bloggers and some were of high standards, taking photos of the LG Viewty Smart GC 900 display booth and taking group photos for memories.

Well, nice to know the following bloggers, MoleMole, Tetanus, Chester Tan, Keropokman, Be@rBrick, Wilfrid Wong, Faddy, hope to catch you folks again !

Crackers? The World Famous (UK)

The Singapore Arts Festival 2009 is coming to a close with lots of big bangs, noises, firecrackers and fireworks ! The closing celebrations was a showcase event called, Crackers? by The World Famous (UK).

The closing celebrations was brought into the heartlands of Singapore, in a suburb or in local terms a housing estate known as Yishun, in the northern part of Singapore. There with an open field, Crackers? was shown to all those present tonight, with a great view of pyrotechnics, firecrackers and fireworks. Waiting patiently for the gates to open at 1945hrs, I was waiting eagerly for the show to begin.

Once the gates were opened and the people started strolling in and beginning to position themselves in between the inner circle and outer circles. For the uninitiated, what’s Crackers? all about ? A brief write up from the Singapore Arts Festival site and the Crackers? official site –

“The world is full of risks to be avoided. The economy is collapsing, the climate is changing and fireworks are too loud. YET, life is to be lived, and revealing its beauty requires a risk and venturing into the unkown.

Crackers? is a celebration of the explosive and dangerous beauty of fire and fireworks and an exploration of our attitudes to Risk.

Not for the fainthearted, Crackers? combines fireworks, projection, performance and music. Performed ‘in the round’, with the audience surrounded by fire & smoke, spinning wheels and fireworks. A symphony of pyrotechnic sounds fills the air. It’s loud, disorientating and cacophonous, but there are moments of delicate and profound beauty…dancing flames, giant Catherine Wheels and the ‘human sparkler’…”

The performers were mixing around the crowds, giving out party poppers and ear plugs, hyping them up to the start of the event, getting them excited and handing out safety instructions demonstrations. Once done, the performance began and the fun began !

Fireworks and pyrotechnics lighted up the skies, I was busy moving from the inner circle to the outer circle to capture different performances and moments, for more photos of this event, drop by my flickr site !

Love the fireworks, firecrackers and pyrotechnics ! Yeah, I love to play with fire !!

In life, we must learn to take Risks !
